What to Expect at a Swim Meet
- Meets begin at 6:00pm, but swimmers should arrive early for warm-ups (around 4:30pm). Coaches will give specific times prior to each meet. Good parking spots are often limited, so the earlier you can arrive, the better. Consider carpooling. Bring your own chairs for home and away meets.
- Each swimmer should check in with the Check-In persons (a parent or two). Swimmers will then have their event numbers written on their hands (so they won’t forget!). Coaches will assign swimmers to events ahead of time.
- 8 and Under Relay swimmers (first event): will begin immediately after the National Anthem. Be available, stay with your relay team, report to coaches immediately after warm-ups, then to Clerk of Course—don’t go anywhere else!
- Weather: in case of thunder, the meet will be delayed or postponed, NOT CANCELED. It is very difficult to reschedule swim meets, so the coaches and referee will make every effort to complete the meet. That may mean a long evening. Please stay on the premises / in your car.
